Feminist Campfire conjures a pre- (or post-?) patriarchal world where embodied movement and soulful, erotic energy can be expressed in safety and celebration. The paintings were created in response to the artist’s own improvised dance, which she filmed and then painted from. The work explores a combination of themes such as the collapsing of time, erotic embodiment, irreverence, pastiche, and reworking of art historical motifs.
